As if the fans didn't already have enough to be upset about at the 2014 Rumble (namely the lack of Daniel Bryan and CM Punk's bunk elimination), the show ended with Batista eliminating hot favourite Roman Reigns for the win, much to the chagrin of the live crowd and, well, pretty much everyone. WWE tried to bring back Batista for a face run that many suspected was an attempt to piggy-back onto Marvel's upcoming PR push for Guardians of the Galaxy, but the crowd rejected it, constantly booing him and even instituting "Boo-tista" chants, to the point that the company were forced to turn him heel. By June, his woefully mishandled run was completely over. And by that I mean finished. As such, a Rumble win was wasted on a legacy wrestler who the fans weren't especially interested in seeing return, when all anyone wanted was a goddamn Daniel Bryan win. Was it asking so much? Hell, we would've settled for Roman at that time.
