27. Alex Riley Gets Accidentally Eliminated (2011)
During the 2011 Rumble, Alex Riley was being double-teamed in the corner by John Cena and Kofi Kingston, after which he was eliminated without much fanfare to the point that the commentary team (including Riley's mentor, The Miz) didn't even appear to notice. You see, Riley's elimination after less than three minutes wasn't planned, and he was originally supposed to eliminate Cena, so an alternate ending had to be improvised later on. Near the end of the match, Riley came back out to the ring to distract Cena, allowing Miz to run into the ring and dump Cena out, in what luckily turned out to be a pretty awesome moment in of itself, regardless of the original plan. Still, it's a testament to how intricately the Rumble is planned, how easily things can go wrong, and how vital the referees are to passing information between talent and making the whole process run smoothly.
