30 Surprising WWE Facts You Probably Didn't Know
18. Batista's Original Backstory Was That He Was A 'Rape Baby'
When Batista debuted as the Reverend D-Von Dudley's enforcer Deacon Batista, he would regularly assault D-Von's opponents with the massive chain around his neck, and was generally an unhappy, unhappy man prone to taking that unhappiness out on others.
On Chris Jericho's podcast a couple of years ago, Batista revealed the reason why his character was always so mad at everyone: his backstory, which was supposed to come out at some point, was that he was a child of rape.

Imagine the enforcer of Evolution having that horrible storyline hanging over his head while he tried to have himself taken seriously - he has repressed rage and anger management problems because he has mummy issues?
It’s not like you can ever rely on the WWE to portray a sensitive subject like that with grace and tact.
