30 Surprising WWE Facts You Probably Didn't Know
17. Stone Cold Steve Austin Is A Wine Conniseur
It’s really tempting to believe that all wrestlers are just like their in-ring characters in real life, and people like Ric Flair don’t help matters - he’s been living the ‘Nature Boy’ playboy gimmick for forty years.
‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin is one of those performers that people tend to think is more or less on all fours with his wrestling character… but the real Steve Austin is a few steps into left field compared with the Texas Rattlesnake.
The former Steve Williams (Austin legally changed his name to his wrestling moniker in 2007 to ensure that he retained control of the ‘Stone Cold’ brand while transitioning from wrestling to acting and presenting) is, in real life, a bit of a wine connoisseur. He reckons that he’s still a beer guy - and he’s had his own craft beer brewed, the aptly named Broken Skull IPA.
In the old days, Austin would prefer some of the heavier cabernets from the Napa Valley, but recently he’s transitioned to a lighter pinot noir.
Just in case you’re wondering whether that’s it, I should clarify that The Texas Rattlesnake also collects antiques, and produced his own country and western compilation album - Stone Cold Country - which is available to purchase online.
