There are few current WWE tropes that make the fans gnash their teeth like champions losing non-title matches on free television to big up their contenders, and there’s no case that illustrates this point better than Cesaro’s ill-fated US title run of 2012/2013.

Antonio Cesaro (as he was back then) won the United States Championship from hardnosed veteran brawler Santino Marella at SummerSlam 2012, and kept it for eight long, weary months, losing the title to Kofi Kingston on the April 15th RAW the following year.

During this time, he lost twenty-three (23) non-title singles matches on television.

Somehow, despite losing every single time it didn’t matter, our Tony C scraped victories for the actual title - most of which were at house shows. On RAW, however, the best wrestler in the company looked like a jobber for his entire reign.
