Astonishingly, Terry ‘The Red Rooster’ Taylor was in the running to be given the Mr. Perfect gimmick.
Both Curt Hennig and Taylor wrestled one another at Wrestlefest, with Hennig booked to go over, but officials were more interested in how each man came across in the match than the worked result.
Creative appreciated Hennig’s attitude and arrogant air more than they did whatever Terry had to offer, and gave the Mr. Perfect character to Hennig. Terry Taylor, in turn, received the ‘Red Rooster’ gimmick that would haunt the rest of his days.
Potentially, had Hennig had an off day and Taylor come over as a bit of a d*ckhead heel, their positions might have been reversed. That’s a weird thought.
