At one point, Wade Barret was tipped to challenge The Undertaker's mighty streak at WrestleMania XXVII. A few years later, he was a comedy 'King' with as much hope of main-eventing one of WWE's supershows as Jeff Jarrett. What had went so royally wrong?

SummerSlam 2010 was bad news for Barrett. His Nexus stable had lit up WWE like nothing else in years, invigorating the product and promising to create an entire faction of headline stars in the process, but bit by bit their popularity was eroded as the company cannibalised it in favour of their established stars. Cena swatting the upstart faction aside at the summer show was a step too far.

Whilst Cena had no influence on the outcome, he could have at least attempted to protect his opponents in defeat. Instead, he bounced up from a DDT onto concrete as though it was a trampoline, and then proceeded to conquer his two remaining foes within three minutes. The Nexus had been shaken to the cor(r)e, and all for what?

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
