13. Weight Gain And Bad Matches

The 2000 / 2001 period was also notable for The Undertaker putting on significant weight (as in a beer belly) and having some astoundingly bad matches. Quite frankly, he sucked. But fans have short memories and are forgiving of icons from their youth, so it never really gets mentioned just how bad Calaway was in those early millennium years. It is wilful ignorance, either that or people have just genuinely forgotten. It could also be a case that his fantastic in-ring efforts from 2004-2013 erased all memories of him ever being rubbish. But seriously, go watch his 2001 matches with DDP or KroniK. Just awful. Most matches in that period were like that, and the image of Taker in denim or his beer belly hanging out of his vest... it is something worth forgetting!
