It must have been a pleasure to work with Rey, particularly in such a tough spot; he pinballed around the ring in full speed demon mode here, effortlessly contorting himself into countering positions for Matt's impressive power arsenal.

Boasting a stunning top-rope Razor's Edge into a Frankensteiner reversal spot, this was a great, traditional opening match that, like the best versions of the fixture, with some special exemptions to follow, did not knacker the crowd.

At a brief and breathless 05:39, this set a tone of barnstorming quality the rest of a stacked roster maintained on an all-time great 'Mania.
