A special 'WTF' moment must be set aside for the awful structure of this Rumble. As fellow WhatCulture WWE writer Lewis Howse summarised: "It's a case of brawl against the ropes, do a rest hold, wait for Austin..." with very little deviation. Occasionally there might be an elimination here or there, but for the most part, the 1998 Royal Rumble match makes for pretty dull viewing. It's a shame, as Austin's eventual win is one of the biggest moments of his career, last eliminating The Rock to a raucous reception.
