Now whilst a comparison can be made between Cesaro and Davey Boy Smith, it could also be said that Tyson Kidd is a modern-day equivalent to Owen Hart.

Both Tyson and Owen were obviously schooled in many of the same ways, having come through various incarnations of the legendary Hart Dungeon and also both having travelled the globe to hone their craft. Then there’s the style of the duo, with both Kidd and Hart being amongst the very best in-ring performers during their respective runs, largely down to their impressive mixture of athleticism and technical proficiency.

The one area that many often say Owen Hart was lacking was his mic work. Sure, he may not have always been the smoothest, but he was certainly entertaining. And likewise, that same complaint is often levied at Tyson Kidd, although his mic work has vastly improved since heading down to NXT a year or two back.

Despite winning singles gold, Owen never won the “big one” and would often end up in the tag ranks, be it with Koko B. Ware, Jim Neidhart, British Bulldog or Jeff Jarrett. Likewise, Tyson Kidd is a talent who seems to flourish in the tag ranks, but then again he’s never really been given much of an opportunity when it comes to his solo career.
