Antonio Cesaro and Davey Boy Smith have a huge amount in common.

As well as both being known as the strongest guy on the roster during their time with Vince McMahon’s company, both are European wrestlers who some may argue don’t have quite the standard of mic skills to get to the top of the card. In his day, Smith was an outstanding technical performer and then later an exceptional powerhouse, whereas Cesaro is a perfect, fluid mixture of both of these styles.

The similarities between the pair continue further, with both having held secondary titles and being multiple Tag Team Championship winners with several different partners. Oh, and there’s also the association with the Hart family that comes into play, with Bulldog having married into the Harts and Cesaro currently tagging with Tyson Kidd, himself married to a Hart.

Whether Cesaro can go one better than Davey Boy Smith and eventually claim the WWE Championship is open to debate, but the Swiss Superman is certainly a modern-day alternative to what the Bulldog was doing during the 1990s.
