Steve Regal passed away on 30 July at the age of 73, though his death remained a secret until his obituary circulated online five months later.

Born Stephen Michael Regal on 25 August, 1951 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, he spent much of his early career in the AWA, finding success as both the World Light Heavyweight and the World Tag Team Champion, holding the latter alongside Jimmy Garvin. His nineteen-year sprint through the industry also brought Regal fleeting appearances for the WWF and Jim Crockett Promotions, joining the former as part of a pack of newly-minted WWF Superstars: 'Superstar' Billy Graham, The Honky Tonk Man, and Koko B. Ware were among those in his year class.

'Mr Electricity' officially retired from in-ring competition in 1996, his final match on record being a disqualification victory over 'Iron' Mike Samson.
