Independent star Mark Wolf, who had been a cherished fixture on the Midwest scene throughout the noughties, passed away on 17 December.

Born in Baltimore, Maryland on 21 October, 1969, Wolf was best renowned for his work in IWA Mid-South, operated by his trainer, Ian Rotten. It was there that Wolf hit his career peak, usurping the great Chris Hero to win the group's Heavyweight Title; there, he also held the Lightweight and Tag Team Championships, effectively becoming an IWA Mid-South Triple Crown achiever.

Elsewhere, and poignantly also against Hero, Mark Wolf is credited for helping lift the wXw Heavyweight Title into World Championship territory. His memorable outing vs. 'The Wrestling Genius' gave the title its fresh branding in 2003.
