4 Most Likely General Manager Candidates For WWE Raw & SmackDown
6. William Regal (Raw)
William Regal's kayfabe General Manager role in NXT gives him one of the greatest track records in WWE GM history. If we're basing things on NXT's development as a brand, he has curated the signings of multiple international talents and created the hottest new wrestling product today. In WWE's land of make-believe, that's surely got to throw his name into the hat.
Regal has already spent time in both a Commissioner and General Manager role in WWE, but his time as NXT's GM has brought new life into the role. In fact, Regal has become a beloved character despite most of his WWE tenure being spent as a brooding heel.
Despite his good guy persona, Regal has demonstrated the polish and authority required to run a brand during backstage segments and promos on NXT, clearly proving his worth. Regal has served as a trainer at the WWE Performance Center since the unfortunate passing of Dusty Rhodes, where he is clearly flourishing as demonstrated by the talented up-and-comers NXT is producing. However, an on-screen role in a much larger capacity would be a great fit for him, especially under the watch of Shane McMahon.
Considering his assumed working relationship with Triple H at NXT, it's easy to make the connection between Steph and William Regal. The pairing could also offer a unique aspect to the role, diverting from the assumed heel-heel, face-face Commissioner-GM relationships predicted to play out.
