4 Ups & 10 Downs From WWE Raw (Dec. 13)

5. So Much For Enjoying The Feud

The Miz Maryse

When they paired Miz and Edge up for a feud, there was reason to be optimistic. Both men are pros and could presumably turn out a decent rivalry, with a good match at the end of it.

But after a good enough start, things have devolved into a lot of talking about respect and other foolishness, including Monday’s ordeal, with Miz endorsing himself for induction into the WWE Hall of Fame. Edge interrupted, got champagne thrown in his face, and things broke down from there.

Then as Edge went to hit a spear, Miz pulled wife Maryse in front of him, booted Edge and delivered a Skull-Crushing Finale. But wait! Maryse was pissed at being used as a human shield and slapped her husband, because this rivalry needed spousal discord to really sell things. *eyeroll*

Seriously, why can’t we just have nice things instead of foolishness like this? Over-complicating feuds with stuff like this just pulls you away from enjoying what should have been a simple and direct rivalry.
