4 Ups & 10 Downs From WWE Raw (Dec. 13)
6. A Heel Without A Record
This column has been hard on Doudrop, not because she isn’t extremely talented or capable of great things, but quite the opposite: she is immensely talented and is being wasted during her time on the main roster.
Yes, Doudrop finally turned heel this fall and is now feuding with Bianca Belair, but aside from a new attitude, leather jacket and (thank God) new entrance music, not much has changed. She still has the same crap name (though WWE has filed a trademark for “Piper Niven,” so hope springs eternal), and – this might shock no one – Doudrop hasn’t won a single match in two months.
Yep, after losing the Queen’s Crown tournament final, Doudrop lost a rematch to Queen Zelina, was on the losing end of a 10-woman tag match, and now has lost two straight to Belair. Her new attitude should have been accompanied by a win over someone – anyone, even local wrestlers – but instead she walked out last week (which was fine) and then lost clean in a good match Monday night.
This isn’t to say she should be pushed at Bianca’s expense, but losing and then jumping Belair afterwards isn’t advancing a narrative. Instead, they’re trying to build up Doudrop by having her lose to Belair and then get her heat back afterwards, which is just backwards. Shouldn’t everything be building to Bianca finally hoisting Doudrop up and hitting the KOD to overcome her adversary?
