4 Ups & 11 Downs From WWE Raw (Jan 11)

2. That’s More Like It

Those who remember how The Bar got started way back when know that Sheamus and Cesaro bonded over their love of brawling and beating up opponents.

So once WWE poisoned the well and treated their audience like they were 5-years-old with Sheamus poised to turn on Drew McIntyre, it pretty much killed any momentum for the storyline. Oh, Sheamus is gonna turn on Drew, they told us so again and again… so then we can all call the champion gullible.

On Monday, however, we saw Sheamus and Keith Lee seemingly bury the hatchet, then stick it in each other’s back and beat the hell out of each other, and then finally hug it out. Again, if you watched the formation of The Bar, that was how they got “over” with fans: they loved to fight, whether it was opponents or even each other. That’s been Sheamus’ character forever, whether heel or face.

Seeing Lee and Sheamus win their tag match and then slug it out was a nice sight, and hopefully WWE won’t ruin it by teasing a heel turn again for the next six weeks. Just move on already.
