4 Ups & 11 Downs From WWE Raw (Nov 22)

1. Egg Storyline Just Rotten

One final burial of the entire Cleopatra egg storyline that dominated a PPV and episode of Raw.

This has to be one of the stupidest angles WWE has run in a while, as the company clearly was doing a cross-promotion for the movie “Red Notice” and just managed to do it in the most idiotic way possible. They tied it to The Rock and the 25th anniversary of his debut at Survivor Series… and then Rocky never showed up in person or in a pre-recorded message.

Instead, they had Vince McMahon parading around with a movie prop, pretending it was the real deal and worth $100 million – because Rock just gave him an item worth nine figures. Then the egg was stolen, which carried over to Raw, with superstars running around backstage like idiots, looking like Benny Hill rejects.

Finally, the payoff to this entirely stupid angle wasn’t Rock showing up or putting over a new star somehow. It was Austin Theory getting a world title match, then blowing it because he got distracted.

Literally everything about this storyline was rotten. Nothing worked, nothing got over, and we are all dumber for having lived through it. The only good thing to come of it were all the bad puns and jokes people made online, but that’s a case of fans laughing at WWE, not with WWE.

He fortunately became a fan in time for WrestleMania III and came back as a fan after a long high school hiatus before WM XIV. Monday nights in the Carlson household are reserved for viewing Raw -- for better or worse.
