4 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Dark (Feb 18)
1. The Young Bucks Cut Loose
The Young Bucks vs. QT Marshall and Peter Avalon was the kind of bout that people will take out of context gifs of and send them to Jim Cornette in the hope that he'll validate and fix whatever's broken inside them with a quote-tweet. Much of it was the four wrestlers cutting loose, hanging fun, and screwing around. For Dark, that's absolutely fine. Sometimes it pays to keep wrestling at arm's length, not take it too seriously, and enjoy a dumb comedy match.
The silliness started when Avalon grabbed the stick after one of Marshall's flips. "What is this flippy-dippy, flippy-dippy-doo?!" he asked, incredulous. "That's not wrestling! Don't you run a wrestling school?! I'll show you real wrestling with real punching and real kicking!"
Seconds later, he was flat on his face. The Bucks took the stick and starting commentating their own double-team moves. Sure, they were screwing around, but it was a funny jab at their critics.
There was more than enough good wrestling on display to prevent this from descending into outright farce, though Avalon's downfall came when his lack of cohesion with Marshall boiled over. 'The Librarian' slapped QT down when Marshall stopped him from cheating. Left to face the Bucks alone, he was crushed by a Meltzer Driver, giving the Jacksons another W before their inevitable Tag Team Title challenge.
