4 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Rampage (April 22)

Jeff Hardy shares some news; FTR's new challengers; AEW goes AAA (and misses).

Julia Hart
AEW

Julia Hart's face matched this writer's when he realised that Tony Khan planned to headline Rampage with a AAA Mega Championship scrap. That felt rather random, and it barely made sense when AEW had other All Elite-centric content it could've ended the show with instead.

This special Saturday edition of Rampage didn't need that main event, put it that way.

On the plus side, the aforementioned Hart continues to develop as both an in-ring performer and a standalone character away from the House Of Black nest. Julia was one of this week's main highlights, but so was some expert storytelling from FTR, Jeff Jarrett and Jay Lethal that threatened to steal the show.

Elsewhere, Jon Moxley went from polite and respectful to p*ssed off and bloodthirsty in the blink of an eye, and Jeff Hardy almost announced retirement from active wrestling before ditching that thought in favour of another: AEW for life. Fans didn't really buy into what Hardy was selling though.

This unfocused episode of Rampage would've been better with a first party finish, but the good did still manage to outweigh the bad...
