4 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Rampage (Jan 7)

Ups...

4. A Promising Start

Jake Atlas
AEW

Time to be positive.

AEW newcomer Jake Atlas buggered his knee when attempting a springboard spot with Adam Cole during the show's opener. Any concerns that the former NXT man would be on the shelf long-term were allayed when he tweeted out some good news claiming that he "won't be gone long".

That's a relief, 'cause Atlas was visibly in serious pain right at the end there. Before the injury, both he and Cole were producing a banger too - Jake, who has decent size but can move for a bigger lad, was allowed to look competitive and formidable during his first proper AEW match.

It's clear that Atlas will be a credit to the roster. He's the kind of worker who can wrestle all comers and make them look good. Guys like that are invaluable to Khan's creative nucleus, specifically when they're trying to build up stars like Adam Cole for main event programs.

This, injury aside, was a strong start.
