4 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Rampage (Sept 9)

3. Young Lions Kick Off Hot

Sammy Guevara Darby Allin
AEW

You're always guaranteed a fun time when Darby Allin and Sammy Guevara work matches together. Whilst this latest chapter didn't reach the heights of some of their other battles, it was still so well-worked that it deserves a place on the 'Ups'. Not even a screwy finish could kill it.

If TK gets back to basics on Rampage, then the show will be better for it. This was proof of that; just stick a few motivated young wrestlers out there, give them 10-15 minutes, back them up with some story, then...BANG! Instant results.

That simplicity is something AEW used to do weekly.

Bonus points go to both for the 'Three Amigos' reversal spot they worked outside the ring. Sammy's cutter on a diving Allin was also very nice (if a little far-fetched considering he barely sold it afterwards), and there was enough here to enjoy generally that kept the live crowd hooked.
