4 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Rampage (Sept 9)

Ups...

4. Simple Setup

Tony Nese Josh Woods Mark Sterling
AEW

It looked like Josh Woods would be working with Wardlow after Wednesday's Dynamite, but setting him up to face Samoa Joe instead isn't a bad idea. That's been pencilled in for next week's episode of Rampage, and it should be one hell of a match if they're handed some time (not three mins like the ladies).

Predictably, Joe's mic work was solid, and Mark Sterling is underrated as a snivelling heel manager. In a cool moment, he took the heat for putting a halt to thoughts that Joe vs. Woods could happen immediately - Sterling also soaked up some cheap heat by bashing Buffalo and saying Albany would be better.

That was great fun.

Woods vs. Joe has show-stealer written all over it. No, Sterling's crew (Tony Nese, mainly) isn't the most threatening, but these lads will manage to squeeze a good match out of things. It's tough to hate setup this simple and well-executed.
