4 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Rampage: Slam Dunk (Feb 18)

Ups...

4. The Opener’s Commentary

Adam Cole Preston Vance
AEW

Credit where it's due: Excalibur, Taz, Ricky Starks and Chris Jericho have started to work out this four-man booth malarkey. The way they put over Dark Order's 10 and encouraged him to use his muscle to overpower Adam Cole was beautiful in its simplicity.

Sometimes, the most obvious story is the best one.

The commentary quartet also mentioned that knee brace 10 had on, and made sure to talk about how it was affecting his movement. That chatter protected Preston Vance. Then, when he fired up against Cole, the World Title challenger looked like the man for fending off a strong opponent.

Excalibur's line about a loss "tumbling" Cole out of that automatic World Title contender's slot was also very slick. The commentary was good all night, being honest, but it was particularly on song during the opening. More of this, please.
