4 Ups & 2 Downs From Last Night's WWE NXT (Feb 28)

3. Swerve O'Clock

NXT put a twist on the usual squash match format last night.

Adam Cole was set to wrestle Cezar Bononi, but him and the Undisputed Era pulled a swerve. The bell rang, and Cole grabbed a microphone, congratulating the big man on winning last year's Future Star award. He then offered an invitation to join Undisputed, but jumped the Brazilian soon after throwing him a t-shirt.

Bononi fought back, and nailed 'The Panama City Playboy' with a Michinoku Driver, but it wasn't enough. A Bobby Fish distraction allowed Cole to blast his opponent with a Superkick and a running knee for the victory, completing his win in just under three minutes of bell time.

Afterwards, the Era put the boots to Bononi for the sake of being bastards, before doing their goofy little pose to close the scene. It was a short, effective segment from start to finish, and exactly what it needed to be. Cole's TakeOver: New Orleans direction looks uncertain, but keeping him strong is still a priority, and antics like this are a great way to do so.
