4 Ups & 2 Downs From This Week's Impact Wrestling (Jan 3)

1. Implosion Before Homecoming

Homecoming main event opponents teamed together in the episode's main event as Johnny Impact and Brian Cage battled The Lucha Bros. Impact and Cage came out on the losing end of the bout after the latter inadvertently clotheslined the World Champion, leading to a brawl that had to be broken up by the entire locker room.

It's moments like this that can make any rivalry that bit more special, which was certainly the case here. The pair's feud up until now had been fairly basic, although there wasn't much of a story anyway. All that's really happened is The Machine cashing in his Option C opportunity at the end of 2018.

Now, there's real proper beef between them, just in the nick of time for the pay-per-view.

Between this moment, Impact's castmates from Survivor, and Killer Kross wanting to be his bodyguard, the main event on Sunday has loads surrounding it. It's an exciting prospect heading into Impact's first major event of the year.
