4 Ups & 2 Downs From WWE SmackDown (28 June - Results & Review)
3. LA Knight Sets Up What's Next
OK, so this writer didn't see LA Knight pinning Logan Paul coming on SmackDown. It seemed certain that Santos Escobar was only involved to take the fall, but WWE chose to add fuel to the fire for LA's US Title march instead. Don't be shocked if Paul now interferes at MITB and costs Knight the chance to haul down the case.
Then, it'll be onto SummerSlam and LA's first singles title win on the main roster.
The smartest thing about this bit of booking is that Logan has no valid excuse to keep running away from Knight anymore. Beforehand, he could point to doing things on his own terms. Now, Nick Aldis will step in, mention LA pinning Paul here, and then set up the PLE showdown. Cool.
Some NBA players showed up to fan the flames of local interest in New York as well. Pacers' point guard Tyrese Haliburton and Knicks' guard Jalen Brunson received heat and pops from the MSG crowd respectively. Sometimes, non-wrestling celebs getting involved can be cringey. This wasn't.
