4 Ups & 3 Downs From AEW Rampage (April 20 - Results & Review)

2. The Upside

RVD Rob Van Dam AEW
AEW

How great did Rob Van Dam look during his latest AEW cameo?! Fans were happy to see him, and Rob scored a popular win in his 4:20 match vs. Komander, Lee Johnson and Isiah Kassidy. No, none of those three could match Van Dam's star power, but that isn't his fault. Tony Khan needs to take the hit there.

This fan decided to watch RVD's performance twice just to properly analyse it and figure out why it worked so well. The verdict? Rob didn't try to go hell for leather for 15 minutes with these guys. Instead, he bowed out and let the younger trio do all sorts of quickfire spots before chiming in to run through some of his old favourites.

That was smart.

RVD kept most of his powder dry for an end sprint opposite Komander (who was visibly delighted throughout - you could almost see that smile sneak out from underneath his mask!), and didn't overexert himself early on. This opener was a masterclass in how to weave in and out of a match as a legend.
