4 Ups & 3 Downs From AEW Rampage (Aug 5)

2. The Opener’s Commentary

This has been said before, but...can William Regal join commentary every single week? Like, can someone quietly write that into his contract so yours truly can hit up the lawyers if he doesn't announce at least one match per Rampage? That'd be nice. Thanks in advance.

Seriously though, Regal was having a blast out there.

His constant analysis and whimsical banter brought out the best in both Jim Ross and Tony Schiavone too. The veteran pair were on top form, then Excalibur tied everything together by questioning the wisdom of Jon Moxley facing such a dangerous opponent days before defending his Interim Title against Chris Jericho on Dynamite.

The commentary desk had energy, jokes, insight and more during that opener. Regal saying the match was defo "ill-advised", before then pointing out that he "can't control" Mox, was another nice bit of subtle storytelling that landed.
