4 Ups & 3 Downs From AEW Rampage (June 30)

3. Way Better Than Expected

Well, this was surprising.

Regular readers will know how much this guy has detested the contractual b*llocks surrounding Ethan Page, so it was refreshing to see Matt Hardy and Brother Zay vs. Johnny TV and QT Marshall soar like it did. This is one tag match that definitely, definitely, definitely exceeded expectations going in.

Being honest, Isiah Kassidy (Zay) is a better tag partner for Matt than Jeff these days. OK, so that'll ruffle some feathers amongst Hardy Boy loyalists, but it's true - Zay does a lot of the quicker stuff, takes a kicking, then hot tags Matt so the veteran can pick his spots. It's a nifty balance.

Johnny TV's arrival (along with more focus on Harley Cameron) has enhanced QTV's act too. Marshall actually comes across as somebody fans should care about now he's backed by the former WWE man and a star-in-the-making like Cameron.

An unexpected treat.
