4 Ups & 3 Downs From AEW Rampage (March 1 - Results & Review)

Revolution awaits you! So much for those heavily hyped AEW rankings, eh?

It'd be sweet if Tony Khan could limit associations with other promotions to Forbidden Door season. Yes, the AEW boss has a lot of content to produce (even more if he adds to the pay-per-view schedule), but he also has bags of pro wrestlers under contract already. This CMLL "invasion" isn't necessary.

Rampage had too much of it. Worse, the CMLL stuff has bled into the World Title conversation too. Sort of. One of the Mexican crew qualified for an "All-Star Scramble" match at Revolution, and it's a real head-scratcher. His inclusion doesn't exactly do much to sell those heavily hyped title rankings.

On the plus side, Claudio Castagnoli managed to squeeze a watchable bout from another of the CMLL workers, and Riho vs. Trish Adora turned out to be a fabulous little TV match. That was unexpected, and so was the surprise package love angle involving ex-Outcast Ruby Soho and Angelo Parker - they actually got an 'Up' this week.

Hell clearly froze over!

You know what you're gonna get from Rampage these days, but a bit more focus on the core roster would be nice to see after Revolution. Hopefully, that's when the curtain comes down on this CMLL business, because it just isn't clicking.

Here's all the good and bad from Friday.
