4 Ups & 3 Downs From AEW Rampage (Sept 1)

Ups...

4. “I Got A Story To Tell”

This, this was good.

What an unexpected treat it was to hear from Mike Santana and get a proper explanation for the tumultuous period he's just gone through in his life and pro wrestling career. The ex-Inner Circle man spoke about losing his father mere months after his AEW debut, then discussed a career-threatening injury he suffered during Blood & Guts 2022.

The whole vignette was soaked in emotion, and that's something Tony Khan should let Santana explore going forwards. Until now, he's been presented as a violent street punk who barely has thoughts or feelings. Now, with just one promo skit, he's a real human being with a past worth exploring.

"Come take a walk on this journey with me. I got a story to tell". That was also one hell of a way to close the promo. This has potential to become something special if AEW keeps things realistic and lets Santana pour his heart out in-depth over the coming months.
