4 Ups & 3 Downs From AEW Rampage (Sept 1)

3. This Made Sense

Aussie Open Chris Jericho
AEW

Aussie Open were frustrated after back-to-back losses on the All In pre-show and again here in this contendership Battle Royale. So, Kyle Fletcher and Mark Davis approached the commentary desk and had a go at Chris Jericho. That makes more sense than some might think, not least because of their ties to Will Ospreay.

Naturally, Jericho saw a kicking coming and tried to get the first punch in, but he was overwhelmed before Sammy Guevara rushed out with a baseball bat (cheers, Sting) to fend them off. All going well, this will lead to a hot tag bout between the Aussie pair and 'Le Sex Gods' that gets Jericho and Guevara back in the tag division hunt.

Someone pencil that in for Rampage, please. It'd be a sweet main event for an episode and could pop a better rating than usual if it comes with some sort of number one contender gimmick. Another plus point is seeing Fletcher and Davis remain in the mix even after dropping their ROH Tag belts.

They've got a real shot at becoming AEW stalwarts.
