4 Ups & 3 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (Nov 15)

3. Kalisto Wins

Appearing on SmackDown for the first time since dinosaurs roamed the Earth, Kalisto scooped a quick win over NXT's Oney Lorcan last night. It wasn't long enough to analyse too deeply, but it did everything it needed to: Kalisto looked great ahead of his Cruiserweight Title match this weekend, and Lorcan wasn't made to look like a schmuck.

This is a perfect use for lesser-known NXT workers like Lorcan. It gives them the opportunity to get comfortable on a bigger stage, where one day they'll hopefully end up, and also allows the crowd to become familiar with them. Billy Kay played a similar role for Dana Brooke back in June, and if SmackDown are to continue with these short enhancement matches, these guys are a stronger option than Raw's faceless local talents.

Kalisto needed a win prior to challenging Brian Kendrick at Survivor Series, and he got it. The former Lucha Dragon should have never been excluded from the Cruiserweight division in the first place, but he's taking the whole roster with him should he win on Sunday. Here's hoping he does: SmackDown could use some fresh faces, and the show's smarter writing team make Tuesday nights a better home for the Cruisers anyway.
