4 Ups & 3 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (Oct 24)

1. Gable & Benjamin Get Nasty

Stating that SmackDown's tag division is the best thing on the show at the moment isn't exactly a hot take, but it's true, and the wrestlers proved it again last night.

Former Tag Team Champions The New Day faced off against future contenders Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin, with The Usos on commentary. They weren't given a great deal of time, and would've likely produced a more exciting match in a bigger spotlight, but it's hard to complain about what they delivered.

The action was as clean and fluid as you'd expect from athletes of this calibre, with Gable and Benjamin's surprising heel work the biggest takeaway. They cheated to win, with the inactive 'Gold Standard' booting Kofi Kingston in the head from the apron, allowing Gable to claim the dishonest victory. An odd dynamic given how compelling Jimmy and Jey have been as heels, but it'll be interesting to see how it plays out.

The Usos were entertaining on commentary, too, escalating their beef with the new challengers through a series of quips and barbs. Survivor Series probably puts their match on hold, but it'll almost certainly be excellent, as The Usos just don't do 'mediocre' anymore. They're one of the most compelling acts in the company, and they're about to meet an exciting new team who could become staples themselves, if given time.
