3. Shane's Punishment Revealed

Daniel Bryan received a phone call late in the evening. Full of obedient “yes sirs,” it sounds super serious, and ultimately led to the General Manager hitting the ring. He summoned Shane McMahon out as soon as he arrived, and the reasoning behind it quickly became apparent.

Vince had called him, and he was pissed. He’d told Bryan to tell Shane he was suspended after attacking Kevin Owens earlier in the show, and the company continued this later in the evening, with Daniel announcing that Vince was heading to SmackDown to deal with the KO/Shane situation next week.

The Chairman’s appearance should be fun, but the Bryan/Shane segment was a mixed bag. Bryan’s delivery was great, particularly as he recalled his own personal experiences with The Miz, but how can we possibly see Shane’s actions as some kind of huge, reprehensible crime when things like this happen so often in this company? The angle makes very little sense in that regard.

Still, the GM was excellent, it’ll be good to see Vince again, and they’ve set the scene well. That’s enough for it to finish as a net positive.
