4 Ups & 3 Downs From This Week's Impact Wrestling (Jan 18)

3. Letting Out Frustrations

The Tessa Blanchard we saw this week is exactly how she should be portrayed in Impact going forward, at least for the time being. She held the Knockouts Championship for months and months while being positioned as the face of the Knockouts and now that she's lost that title, she's letting all her frustrations out. That includes attacking Gail Kim.

It goes to show that Tessa doesn't need to rely on a championship to get herself over in Impact. Her wrestling skills are above everyone else in the Knockouts division, which shouldn't shock anyone given her status as the daughter of Tully Blanchard. That isn't why she's as big a name as she is though - she reached these heights by simply being excellent in the ring.

Although this segment was backstage as opposed to the squared circle, Tessa showed us everything we needed to see. If this is the way she's going forward for just now, then we all need to hop on the hype train before it leaves the metaphorical station. As has become tradition in this column, it's worth mentioning that this appears to be leading to Tessa vs. Gail Kim, which is a match not to be missed.
