A brief – and brilliantly produced - Aoife Valkyrie vignette aired last night, highlighting her recent loss to Meiko Satomura that saw her left out of last week’s number one contender’s gauntlet match.
Aoife stated that if you learn something from defeat, then you haven’t really lost. Failure is a part of success – it didn’t matter that she lost to ‘The Final Boss’ because she knows where she went wrong. Some cliches regarding how high a bird can soar went down about as well as you’d expect. Her wood-throwing skills were good, at least.
Regardless of how naff a storyline is, WWE are typically always capable of salvaging something with a neat video package. While Valkyrie wasn’t exactly struggling, this still served as a fine way to move her onto the next step of her NXT UK career without her needing to show a more vicious side just because she lost. Aoife rules; this felt like it was setting her up for a future Women’s Championship run.
