4 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE NXT UK (20 May)

2. Pub Fight

Rampage Brown Wolfgang

For the first minute, Rampage Brown and Wolfgang appeared to be going down the technical route. A neat transition out of a pinfall proved this, until they gave in, and started to recklessly beat the sh*t out of each other.

This was some good stuff simply because it was precisely what it needed to be. Why would Wolfgang wear down Rampage’s ribs with Johnny Saint’s offence when he can instead ram him into the ring post and Spear the Leeds man into literal oblivion? Bodyscissors rest hold aside, he played his role well here.

Brown got the three following a stiff Lariat and Doctor Bomb as he now looks set to tangle with Wolfie’s Gallus pal Joe Coffey. A minor Down for Joe appearing at the onset of Wolfgang’s entrance; he was nowhere to be seen when Rampage was looking for him, and thus, that should have been the case here, too.

Other than that, this was a real meaty battle. In today’s era, near enough every big guy is pretending they’re a late ‘90s WCW cruiserweight, with a 450 splash here and a Shooting Star Press there. While Wolfgang did hit a middle-rope splash, he and Rampage wrestled as what they are; a pair of hard-hitting, big beefy boys.
