4 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE SmackDown (2 Aug - Results & Review)

2. Bit Of A Non-Event

Apollo Crews Santos Escobar
WWE.com

Being honest, Santos Escobar beating Apollo Crews in approx three minutes was too short to really mean anything. It's definitely a plus that tag-teams outside the title picture have something going on, but Triple H needs to add more layers and actually tell a story instead of...whatever this is supposed to be.

People won't care about Crews one bit if he's just doing more of the same he's been doing for years. Any high hopes that aligning with Baron Corbin will be good for him long-term would be dashed pronto if this is all he's up to. Legado del Fantasma could use a bit more sizzle themselves. They're bland.

Hmm. Worrying.

The number one thing laid bare during this match? Everyone involved is so far off major PLEs like SummerSlam it isn't even funny. Sure, not every wrestler can bag a slot on the big events, but they should at least be in the mix month to month. This match was like watching Main Event happen on SmackDown.
