4 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE SmackDown (4 July - Results & Review)
3. Best Use Of Female Veterans Right Now
Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss have history from the NXT days when coming up together, but Charlotte didn’t want to be friends with Alexa in 2025. In several promos, including on this week's show, Bliss said it isn’t about that - she just thinks they could be tag champs if they put their minds together. It's a simple story, and an effective one thus far.
On Friday, the pair scored a routine win over teams like B-FAB and Michin and the Secret Hervice. Bliss and Flair were obvious winners, sure, but the action was slick and there was enough here to keep anyone watching entertained. Besides, big names like Bliss and Flair winning gives the Women’s Tag-Team Title division another story to work with following on from Roxanne Perez replacing the injured Liv Morgan alongside Raquel Rodriguez over on Raw.
At least they’ve got stories running in the division on both Raw and SmackDown, eh? That's a step up from the Women's Tag-Team belts seeming like something nobody was interested in. Yes, Alexa and Charlotte are the latest thrown together squad comprised of singles stars who have nothing else going on, but at least Triple H is trying to soften that blow by exploring their history as rookies.
Overall, this is the best way to use both women over the summer. It's also interesting that both Bliss and Nick Aldis pointed to Flair's spotty record since returning. Also, fans did cheer when the team won and celebrated. Could...could this be the key to unlocking an elusive babyface run for Charlotte?! Surely not.
Tidy narrative and match gets a thumbs up though.
