4 Ups & 3 Downs From WWE SmackDown (Feb 17)

1. Empty Threats

Rey Mysterio Karrion Kross Scarlett

Karrion Kross insulting Rey Mysterio then telling him to do something about it would 100% mean more had Rey not thumped him in seven minutes on the 27 January episode. This backstage promo played out like WWE's writers had forgotten all about that, but the loss was such a misstep for Kross that it's hard to overlook.

Where is he going?

Karrion's previous rivalry with Drew McIntyre (and threats he made towards Roman) seemed to suggest that Triple H viewed him as a major player on Fridays. Everything about his booking since, including the stupid loss to Rey that has killed this feud stone dead, has suggested otherwise.

It's rather embarrassing that WWE has whiffed on this story whilst showing what's possible elsewhere. Being honest, it wasn't even a difficult one to tell - Kross should've been physically overwhelming for Rey, thus causing Mysterio to call on all of his experience to fight back.

Simple. Or not.
