4 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Rampage (June 9)

2. They Deserve More

The Acclaimed Billy Gunn

The Acclaimed were being built up pretty nicely heading into Double Or Nothing, but eventually came up short vs. House Of Black. Now, Max Caster, Anthony Bowens and Billy Gunn appear to be right back where they started. They beat SAP on Rampage, so are they...getting another title shot, or something?

What's the alternative? They might have to.

Without being too cruel, SAP being here adds weight to the "Rampage is now Dark" claim earlier. They're cannon fodder on this roster, and that might be why the live crowd was rather muted for The Acclaimed. Building the trio up for a title crack, booking them to lose and them penning more six-man bouts hasn't exactly thrilled the core audience.

Acclaimed vs. SAP was a bit of a nothing affair, in truth. It was too short to mean anything, the result was never in question, and it had another of those pesky pic-in-pic commercial stoppages (one which advertised more AEW, which is always pretty funny).

The Acclaimed deserve way more than they've been getting.
