4 Ups & 4 Downs From Last Night's WWE NXT (Nov 18)
Downs...
4. Brooke vs Asuka 2
Give the people what they want, WWE. The people have a fever, and the only cure ... is more Dana Brooke. Now, I was a fan of Asuka chewing through Dana Brooke like a tapas platter, everyone was. There's a genuine, visceral catharsis to watching an annoying wrestler getting their arse stomped all the way in, but does anyone really want to see Asuka tangle with Brooke and Emma for any longer than is necessary? Last night, while Tom Phillips was conducting a strange interview with a masked Asuka, Dana appeared and (in as wooden a voice as she could manage) challenged Asuka for round 2. Cue legions of fans going "...really? Well ... ok I guess." Now, Brooke is getting better in the ring. In fact, she's probably learning a lot from sparring with as canny a ring veteran as Asuka, but this program really feels done. Brooke's passionless delivery doesn't help matters. Emma is good, Asuka is great, and Brooke is on the verge of ok, so chances are that what unfolds, from an in-ring perspective, won't be terrible, but Asuka deserves more than just knocking around Brooke and Emma for a few more weeks.
