You need to be some talent to go out there on your own and sell a bumper PLE match solo. LA Knight did that on SmackDown; he showed off a contract for his United States Title bout vs. Logan Paul at SummerSlam, dissed the absent champ and got the live crowd eating from the palm of his head.

Job done.

This was seriously slick work from the US Champ in waiting. Knight finally winning singles gold on WWE's main roster will be a personally massive moment for the man, and fans are ready to see it. The LP diversion made sense because of his mainstream appeal, but it's time to have a full time secondary male champion back on Fridays.

Knight is fully capable of doing the same sort of thing Sami Zayn is doing with the Intercontinental strap over on Raw. In other words, he can mesh well with a string of challengers and add a must-see midcard match to every other PLE going. Let's get this show on the road, people.
