3. Why Did They Do This Rematch?!

Trick Williams tried to avenge his United States Title loss at SummerSlam by taking the belt back from Baron Corbin, but he needs to get the heck away from this rivalry. SmackDown's effort proved to be much the same sort of match we saw on PLE, then Corbin cheated to retain. Yeah, sticking around in this scene isn’t going to help Trick one bit.

Thankfully, at least Lil Yachty wasn’t there. Silver linings, and all that.

If management does want to move Williams up the card, then this won’t do it. Back to back losses to Corbin, whether there were shenanigans or not, won’t work for him. Move Trick on quickly, please. Look, the match was actually solid, but the booking is a problem and truly puzzling. Also, why hasn’t Baron changed that furry US Title? It looks ridiculous when he’s holding it.

It certainly didn't help matters that their finish with the belt shot here also made the referee look totally daft. There was no reason for him to turn his back on the action when he did. This is the sort of thing AEW (rightly) gets heat for from fans, so it's only fair if it's called out on WWE's side as well.

Corbin vs. Carmelo Hayes next week has been made official too. That'll be in Melo's hometown, so there's a chance he leaves with the title and this Baron reign is short lived. Whatever the outcome of that, please just get Trick into some other story on the brand. He's over, but repeat losses like this will suffocate him.
