4 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE SmackDown (7 Nov - Results & Review)

1. Chaotic Finish Pulls The Nose Up

Chaotic, frenzied conclusions are nothing new for SmackDown or WWE television as a whole, but Friday's episode badly needed this sort of mayhem. Cody Rhodes vs. Aleister Black was simmering away nicely when Drew McIntyre sprinted in to Claymore Kick the ref. That same ref (Dan Engler) is one the Scot would say cost him the chance to become WWE Champion at SNME last weekend.

Damian Priest rushed out to help even the odds, then Black raked his injured eye and Nick Aldis announced that Drew is suspended “effective immediately”. Again, it was a chaotic and fun final 15 minutes or so of the show. McIntyre pleaded his case in front of the entrance by saying others had pushed him to be so dramatic, but Aldis was having none of it.

WWE are either keeping Drew ready for a returning Jacob Fatu (whenever that happens) or subtly building towards McIntyre vs. Aldis. The second one is fanciful, but wouldn't it be awesome? What a start to life as a wrestler in WWE that'd be for the SmackDown GM. He'd have full trust in a total pro like Drew to bring the best out in him.

Cody and Damian vs. Drew and Black will happen at some stage in the future as well. For now, McIntyre will be sitting on the sidelines like his name is Kevin Owens. Promos from his rental car incoming? Don't rule it out. Seriously though, this madcap finish to SmackDown made the show worth seeing.

Crazy, self-sabotaging McIntyre is the best.
