4 Ups & 4 Downs From WWE SmackDown (Sept 29 - Results & Review)
2. Quality Guaranteed
Everybody and their dog knew Rey Mysterio vs. Santos Escobar would be a winner. This writer's girlfriend has a little cute chihuahua called Stevie (@steviethegremlin___ on Instagram), and he literally whispered: 'Psst! Don't miss this match! It's going to be an in-ring classic that'll elevate SmackDown by going 20+ minutes!'.
You were right, Stevie. You. Were. Right.
Seriously though, the LWO pair have chemistry for days. This was a top opportunity for Santos especially, and he made the most of it. It's also clear there's so much more to come from this story over the next 12-18 months. The small package finish was totally fine too, because it suggested Rey could only beat his bud by the slimmest of margins.
Their eventual rematch with a heel Escobar will be fire after that. WWE has a ton of cheery content to burn through before getting to that, but it's surely coming. For now, just sit back, relax and enjoy seeing Mysterio defy age to put on worldies like this.
