4 Ups & 5 Downs From AEW Rampage (May 20)

3. Tidy Match, Right Winner!

Kris Statlander Red Velvet
AEW

Kris Statlander and Red Velvet can be proud of the fact that they worked the second best match on this week's Rampage. That, considering they were sharing the card with Bryan Danielson, was never a given, but they managed it. There was a nice level of intensity to their work overall.

Statlander's power moves were a highlight, and she was the right woman to advance towards the Owen Hart Cup semi finals ahead of Velvet. The match would've been better without the ad break interruption (that happens too much during short matches on Rampage), but it is what it is with that.

Both women packed a lot in here, and they impressed the live crowd. The 'Downs' revealed that the post-match could've done without all that lame brawling from Ruby Soho and Anna Jay; bell-to-bell though? Yep, Kris and Red showed they're more-than-capable.

AEW should keep developing both.
